Minister Tyrone A. Nelson, Founder and President
Min. Tyrone is an ordained Christian minister and a native to Washington DC. God had given the vision in 2006 of Bridging the G.A.P.S. Ministries (BGM), and was born out of Tyrone’s desire to take the gospel message to people who have not been introduced to Christ or have lost their passion of service in God’s kingdom. Tyrone gave his life to Christ at the young age of 17 and was called to the ministry shortly after that. Minister Nelson has been working in ministry of Evangelism and Missions for over 20 years and he and his family formally attended Nations Ford Community Church in Charlotte, NC where he was a practicing minister within the church. He is passionate about the work of Christ through evangelism in local and global communities, and the work of reconciliation to which He has called all of us. He believes that God has ordained BGM for such a time as this. Through guidance of the Holy Spirit he is seeking to take this organization to places where the Gospel of Jesus Christ is least known, with the Word of God and the Love of God shown to all people. He is supported by his wife and co-founder Lashonda Nelson.
Lashonda K. Nelson, Co-founder
Lashonda is a Charleston, SC native. After graduating from Howard University, Lashonda has worked in Finance industry for over 20 years. She professed her belief in Christ our Savior at a young age and reconfirmed that faith in her early 20s. She serves in various ministries within the Church. Her passion is helping people achieve their goals through financial independence with a focus on God’s direction in their lives. She developed a desire to serve in communities where vulnerable people are most at risk and describes herself as a Christian who loves God and wants to do the right thing and love others.
Bridging the G.A.P.S. (God’s Anointed People Serving) Ministries (BGM) is a local and international missions organization that was created in 2020. This ministry has deep roots in the community through its various partnerships in Charlotte, North Carolina and globally. We are intentionally seeking opportunities to serve where needed and share the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
At BGM, it is our belief that we all are in need of the gospel. While being involved in cross-cultural, team-oriented ministry, we discovered how challenging it is to be grounded in a biblical identity as sons and daughters of God. We began to develop discipling resources to preach the gospel to ourselves so that we could go into the broken places of our world to reach souls, renew hearts and restore communities.
Today, our work consists of sending missionaries locally and abroad, while supporting and mentoring missionary leaders throughout our world.
We are convinced that no one should live and die without hearing God's good news. We believe that He has called us to make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ in communities where He is least known.
Therefore, compelled by God's great love and empowered by the Holy Spirit:
